At Moss Off Roof, we are specialists in safe and effective roof cleaning. Using our dry Airpole® system, we remove moss without pressure washing, without standing on your roof, and without leaving any mess behind.
From Wooton – under – Edge to Bidford – On – Avon to Chipping Norton to Stanford in the Vale, we cover the whole Cotswolds with a service that protects roofs and keeps them looking their best.
Every roof in the Cotswolds is different, which is why we take the time to assess each one carefully. Our local specialist, is based in Nailsworth, right in the heart of the Cotswolds, and he has years of experience working on the stone and clay tiled roofs common across the area.
Neil your local specialist will be able to visit you and clue you in on how we do our work.
We will visit your property to inspect the roof and understand the extent of moss growth. He knows the challenges that come with shaded valleys, older tiles, and damp conditions that are typical here.
Using the patended Airpole® system, we clear the moss safely from ground or scaffold level, without ever stepping on the tiles. This protects delicate Cotswold roofs and avoids the risk of breakage.
Once the moss is removed, a biocide treatment is applied. This helps prevent regrowth and keeps the roof cleaner for longer, which is especially important in the damp Cotswold climate.
All moss and debris are collected on a tarpaulin and taken away, we aim to leave the surrounding property as clean as it was beforehand and treat it with the respect we would expect if the roles were reversed. No wet mess left over.
Keeping your roof clean in the Cotswolds can be a real challenge. Moss thrives in this part of the country thanks to the damp climate, shaded areas, and the traditional stone and clay roof tiles common across the region. Left untreated, moss can damage tiles, block gutters and drainage, hold moisture on the roof and severely affect the aesthetics of the property.
At Moss Off Roof, we specialise in roof cleaning that protects your home — without pressure washing, without standing on your tiles, and without creating a wet mess.
Our approach is safe for your property, kind to your roof tiles, and leaves behind no mess or damage.
Using our advanced, patented Airpole system, we can safely and effectively remove moss from your roof and apply treatments that keep it away for longer.
| Issue / Benefit | Moss Off Roof | Traditional Roof Cleaning |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure washing risk | ✅ No pressurised water used – tiles stay safe | ❌ High-pressure jets – can damage tiles |
| Walking on roof | ✅ No one stands on your roof | ❌ Operatives often walk on tiles |
| Mess left behind | ✅ Dry system – no wet mess, all debris removed | ❌ Wet waste often blocks drains and gutters |
| Tile lifespan | ✅ Method protects tile surface | ❌ Pressure can strip protective layers |
| Suitability for older roofs | ✅ Safe for stone, clay and slate tiles | ❌ Risk of damage on fragile roofs |
| Long-term results | ✅ Biocide treatment slows moss return. Much longer lasting results due to thorough moss removal out the tile joins and not taking the top off of the tiles or damaging the tile surface. Chemical treatment can then be fully effective. | ❌ Often short-term, moss grows back quicker |
Every roof in the Cotswolds is different, which is why we take the time to assess each roof and property carefully. We have years of experience working with stone and clay tiled roof common in the Cotswolds. Our local specialist, who is based in Nailsworth, will be able to visit you and explain our process as it is different to all others.
The Cotswolds has the right conditions for moss to spread. Moss holds moisture on the roof which compromises its ability to shed rain and to get rid of moisture. It also can block drainage, spread to other ground surfaces, is unsightly and can be irritating. Period properties and older roofs require a careful approach for safe and efficient moss removal.
Our patented Airpole® system has been designed with the important facts in mind. We don’t use pressurised water, heavy equipment, walk over the roof or use a method which damages the surface of the tile. All of these damage tiled roofs. We have invested in the patented Airpole® system, this means your tiles won’t be damaged, internal water damage is completely avoided, there is no risk of breaking tiles and it negates the risk of blocking drainage.
Posted on Adam Cloote15 April 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As a retired conservation architect/surveyor, I have to say that this method of moss removal is a game changer in the preservation of historic and listed buildings. The removal and prevention of moss growth preserves the surface of natural and clay roof finishings preventing frost and moisture damage through the winter. The removal method is entirely sympathetic with such historic building materials and causes no damage whatsoever. Neil and his son Ollie undertook the removal of moss from my old and fragile stone tiled, cottage roof, with complete respect and care for the historic fabric and the gardens around my house, cleaning away all equipment and fallen debris every day before leaving site. They were courteous, friendly and very accomodating to the customers needs. I thoroughly recommend them for roof cleaning of historic buildings.Posted on Tony Haynes12 April 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you Chris, we are glad you had a great experience with us, all the best!Posted on Jane Yates30 November 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thorough, professional and trustworthy! Neil went out of his way to provide a thorough cleaning job on my roof which had years of stubborn moss build-up. He worked long days to get the job done to the high standards he sets himself and was always polite, considerate and professional. After doing some research, I was anxious to avoid hiring one of the "cowboy" companies that unfortunately seem to exist in this sector. However, Neil immediately put my mind at rest when he came to assess the job. I could tell he takes immense pride in his work and the results speak for themselves. Highly recommended!

The damp climate, shaded locations, and traditional tiles create the right conditions for moss to thrive.
Not with our methods. We don’t use pressure washing or walk on your roof, so the tiles remain protected.
Yes, we do, if you are unsure of if we cover your area please get in touch and we will let you and help where we can!
The return of moss differs according to the particular environment of each property. We provide the most thorough removal on the market without damaging the surface of the tile. In addition, our chemical treatment ensures that regrowth is inhibited for longer than any other process. The average roof stays moss free for several years.
We offer a retreatment service which resets the roof back to its best/ moss free state if in several years if organic growth starts to show.
